This Ramadan, Dubai Cares is giving shoppers at The Dubai Mall a chance to contribute to the creation of an Alphabet book that will be distributed in English, Arabic and French to some of the organization's beneficiary countries around the globe. With a generous sponsorship by Emirates Islamic, Dubai Cares has created an interactive space at the Waterfall Atrium in The Dubai Mall from June 16 to July 6, 2015, serving as a convenient touch point for UAE residents to learn about the organization's "We Can Teach Each Other" Ramadan campaign 2015 and participate directly in teaching children to read.

The activation at The Dubai Mall is part of Dubai Cares "We Can Teach Each Other" Ramadan campaign 2015, which emphasizes the abundance of talent and resourcefulness amongst children in developing countries. The campaign aims to promote a first-of-a-kind skill exchange between children in impoverished communities and school-going children from around the world. As part of the skill-exchange, the UAE-based philanthropic organization will encourage children to draw letters of the Alphabet that will be used to compile the ABC book. The children's drawings will also be showcased on the stand at the mall to represent the power of knowledge-sharing.

Underscoring the importance of designing a gathering space for the community, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares said: "We wanted to create a space that would bring the campaign to life in an interactive way and thanks to Emirates Islamic and The Dubai Mall, we have been able to achieve that. By inviting the shoppers to contribute to the making of the ABC Book, we have been able to create a tangible connection that represents the impact each and every one of us can make towards promoting universal primary education. The Dubai Cares space at The Dubai Mall underscores how much we value the contribution and participation of the UAE community. Their continued support and generosity underpins our success and has encouraged us to constantly look for more platforms to ensure that children in developing world gain access to quality primary education."

Commenting on the collaboration with Dubai Cares, Jamal bin Ghalaita, CEO, Emirates Islamic, said: "Emirates Islamic is proud to support Dubai Cares in their objective to provide quality primary education to underprivileged children in developing countries. We strongly believe that a good education will empower these children to become good global citizens of the future. Emirates Islamic has a long term commitment to initiatives that provide for the welfare of children, and we aim to focus more of our efforts on this cause in the future."

The Dubai Cares Ramadan campaign 2015 features the organization's biggest social media campaign to date - #IsFor. It drives the creation of the first Instagram Alphabet book with the support of the UAE community. Residents of the UAE and people around the world are encouraged to post photographs of objects whose words start with each letter of the alphabet, such as an image of an apple and a description of "A #IsFor Apple" or an image of a bike "B #IsFor Bike" or a picture of a train "T #IsFor Train", while also tagging #DubaiCares. As the campaign comes to an end, Dubai Cares will collate many of the images along with the profile pictures and usernames of the users who shared them in an Instagram ABC book, which will be distributed in English, Arabic and French in some of the organization's beneficiary countries. Dubai Cares' annual mall activity at The Dubai Mall is supporting the creation of the book, giving shoppers a convenient way to support the organization during Ramadan.

The Dubai Cares activity, sponsored by Emirates Islamic, features elements directly linked to the "We Can Teach Each Other" Ramadan campaign in the form of tutorials videos, display wall with children's drawings and information counters. The space is also a convenient hub for residents keen to donate to Dubai Cares programs across the globe.
