Dubai Cares has supported a fully integrated WASH-in-Schools program and employed participatory learning techniques to allow school children to adopt positive hygiene behavioral change. The overall goal of the program was to reduce water, sanitation and hygiene related diseases and improve the quality of life by facilitating the revitalization of primary education to ensure increased enrollment.

As part of the program, Dubai Cares:
• Distributed 5,000 School Sanitation and Hygiene toolkits to 5,931 primary schools in Sierra Leone, benefiting approximately 1,194,503 school children
• Reached a minimum of 10,000 children in 20 primary schools in Western Area district who have benefited from improved water and sanitation facilities and hygiene promotion
