• Country: Comoros Islands
  • Date: Jan 2008 - Dec 2012
  • Program Type: Quality of Education and Learning
  • Partner: United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)
Dubai Cares, in partnership with UNICEF, supported a quality education program in Comoros. The overall objective of the program was to scale up the Competencies’ Based Approach of all public and private primary schools to improve quality of primary education, as well as effectiveness and efficiency of the management of the education system. These improvements, along with increased access and reduced disparities between girls and boys and also among islands within the country, contributed to achieving retention and completion rates in primary education. Key to achieving this target was ensuring the availability of infrastructure for Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs in order to prepare all Comorian children for primary education and ensure full enrollment. Also, the program facilitated the expansion of the renovated Koranic School component to include the rehabilitation and renovation of 60 Renovated Koranic Schools.
