Dubai Cares funded an Education, Protection and Water & Sanitation Program in the Republic of Chad. The program used an integrated approach that linked basic education to child protection mechanisms, health and nutrition (immunization, de-worming, and vitamin A supplementation), HIV/AIDS, water (clean and safe water) and sanitation (gender-specific latrines and hand washing facilities).

As part of its intervention, Dubai Cares:
• Built 15 new schools of 2 classrooms each
• Dug 15 wells/water points
• Built 30 gender-specific latrines
• Accelerated training for untrained and community teachers
• Distributed desks and chairs
• Printed and distributed teacher guides on life skills
• Dewormed and provided nutrition supplements to school children
• Trained parent committees and provided literacy courses for women
