Dubai Cares is working with STIR in Uganda to improve: teacher motivation, teaching practice and student learning through the Teacher Development Program. This program aims to rebuild the teaching profession and improve learning levels for students in Uganda. Mounting evidence indicates that committed, open-minded and capable teachers are critical to addressing the learning crisis. STIR and Dubai Cares believe that improved teacher motivation leads to more effective teaching practices, which in turn, results in better student learning outcomes. At the heart of the program’s approach to teacher development is the membership of local Teacher Changemaker Networks that supports teachers in:
