Over 200 schoolchildren from Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah to benefit from access to educational and recreational activities
Over 400 volunteers to join Dubai Cares’ team during the week-long initiative
Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, today kicked off its ‘Summer Camp’ edition of Volunteer Emirates, in partnership with Al Ihsan Charity Association. The initiative will run between the 21st and 26th July, with the participation of 400 volunteers and in support of orphans and children from low-income families in Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah. Through the camp, the volunteers will engage and interact with children through various educational activities, which cover educational games, art and crafts, sports, music, general awareness, a reading club, Math and English enrichment, as well as a field trip.
“Dubai Cares is delighted to build on its partnership with Al Ihsan Charity Association by extending its support to children from low-income families in the UAE and creating an invigorating platform for them to learn and thrive. As part of our mandate to provide quality education, we are proud to have introduced a weeklong summer engagement with Al Ihsan Charity Association beneficiaries, most of who are orphans and unable to enroll in thoughtfully curated summer programs. The camp has been designed to help children acquire improved social and personal assets that will contribute to increased levels of confidence, happiness and positive behavior that are all essential towards building strong life skills,” said Abdulla Ahmed Al Shehhi, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Cares.
“We are grateful to Dubai Cares’ support for this year’s summer camp. This initiative has given children the chance to access sports and extra-curricular activities during their school holiday. The summer camp has also offered children from Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah a unique opportunity to participate in activities that are creative, stimulating, educational and above all, engaging. Building on our existing relationship with Dubai Cares, the new initiative further supports our mandate to assist community members from low-income families and enable them to become effective and sustainable contributors to society,” said Aisha Sultan Alkhatry, General Manager of Al Ihsan Charity Association - Ras Al Khaimah branch.
Mauline Rantugan, one of the volunteers said: “It is important to realize that there are children in our community who are living around us and who are not as fortunate. Through Dubai Cares’ commitment and the volunteers’ dedication, we hope students will enjoy a fun and educational break from routine.”
