Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, launched today the second edition of Volunteer Emirates 2018, organized in support of The National Charity School in Al Qadsia, Sharjah. The initiative saw 100 UAE-based volunteers dedicating their time and efforts to enrich the school’s learning environment by delivering a variety of essential educational equipment, as well as improving the learning conditions for 1,000 students enrolled in the school.
The latest edition of Volunteer Emirates 2018 supported the National Charity School by providing furniture for the science laboratory, whiteboards for classrooms, benches for the recreational areas, as well as desks, chairs and cupboards for the teachers’ lounges. The volunteers also drew educational murals across the corridors and landscaped the school’s outdoor spaces to create more pleasant and engaging surroundings.
Speaking at the 2nd edition of Volunteer Emirates in 2018, Abdulla Ahmed Al Shehhi, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Cares said: “Through this initiative which is taking place during the ‘Year of Zayed 2018’, we hope to spread late Sheikh Zayed’s inspirational and noble values and further reinvigorate the UAE community's commitment to community service and volunteering. We are always inspired by the commitment and dedication of our volunteers, who spare no efforts in supporting us no matter when or where. We are pleased to see the UAE community come together for another edition of Volunteer Emirates in 2018 and in support of such a noble and vital cause. With more initiatives to come, I’m confident we’ll see Volunteer Emirates gather more strength in 2018.”
Commenting on the program, Fatina Al Bitar, Principal at The National Charity School in Al Qadsia, Sharjah said: “We are thankful to Dubai Cares and every volunteer for their commitment and hard work. We’ve seen the values of generosity, commitment, and respect at play here today, which is a powerful example for our students to look up to.”
Dala from Jordan who is a regular volunteer with Dubai Cares said: “I am very happy to be part of this initiative and to be supporting Dubai Cares in its noble work. When a large group of people come together, they will certainly make a big difference.”
Mauline, a UAE resident from the Philippines said: “This is my third time volunteering with Dubai Cares. I really enjoyed my time alongside other volunteers devoting our time and energy to support Volunteer Emirates in Sharjah.”
