Water Bucket Walk

Water Bucket Walk
Water Bucket Walk

As a follow-up to the success of the ‘Thirst for Education’ campaign and to further its efforts of providing children with access to clean water, Dubai Cares invited the UAE community to participate in a ‘Water Bucket Walk’ event, a symbolic 3-km walk in support of children who do not have access to clean drinking water in schools around the world. The walk helped raise awareness of the plight of children in developing countries who have to walk, on average, more than 6 km every day to collect water that is likely to make them sick, keeping them out of school.

The walk was held on November 20, 2009 marking the 20th anniversary of the United Nations’ Universal Children’s Day, giving the UAE community the opportunity to briefly experience a fraction of the difficulties that children in developing countries face every day in accessing and collecting water.
