Limited access to clean drinking water has significant impact on millions of children, with over 443 million school days missed every year because children become ill from the water they drink. This is why Dubai Cares focuses its efforts on ensuring the integration and prioritization of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in all its education programs. To promote WASH in schools, Dubai Cares launched its ‘Thirst for Education’ campaign, providing the UAE community an opportunity to contribute to providing these children access to clean drinking water.
The ‘Thirst for Education’ campaign was implemented during the Holy Month of Ramadan and received tremendous support from the UAE business community including retailers, shopping malls and organizations from various industry segments such as telecommunications and media as well as from UAE residents who generously contributed to the campaign. A total of 679 retail establishments and over 120,000 UAE residents contributed to providing children with access to clean drinking water which will ultimately increase school enrollment rates, decrease absenteeism and improve children’s overall health.Back to listing
