Education and WASH Support to Vulnerable Communities in Sierra Leone
As part of this program, Dubai Cares worked at 3 different levels:
Supporting WASH Education in Sierra Leone
Dubai Cares has supported a fully integrated WASH-in-Schools program and employed participatory learning techniques to allow school children to adopt positive hygiene behavior change. The overall goal of the program was to reduce water, sanitation and hygiene related diseases and improve the quality of life by facilitating the revitalization of primary education to ensure increased enrollment.
Five thousand School Sanitation & Hygiene toolkits were distributed to 5,000 primary schools in Sierra Leone, benefiting approximately 1,194,503 school children. A minimum of 10,000 children in 20 primary schools in Western Area district have benefited from improved water and sanitation facilities and hygiene promotion.
