Dubai Cares helped empower girls and young women aged 6-20 years in the Jangamo District of Mozambique, to realize their rights to education and economic participation.

The program focuses on:
• Improving girls’ retention rates for primary school by reducing physical barriers to education, improving the quality, relevance and gender sensitivity of teaching and transforming the school environment to one that is safe, supportive and girl-friendly
• Improving girls’ transition from primary to secondary school by reducing physical and financial barriers to secondary schooling as well as barriers arising from harmful gender norms
• Enabling girls who have discontinued or have been excluded from education due to early marriage, pregnancy and/or other barriers to reincorporate into the formal system and develop personal, social and financial assets that enable them to realize their rights and improve conditions for themselves and their children
