Dubai Cares, in partnership with Sentebale, supported a program aimed at facilitating access to primary education for herd boys in Lesotho by establishing five night schools in key rural locations. Due to the nature of their work, 60% of herd boys aged 6 to 18 in Lesotho had been excluded from school and had received no formal education.
Dubai Cares supported the refurbishment of five schools to provide 125 herd boys with a primary education in math and literacy, enabling them to pursue the Primary School Leaving Certificate. The program also offered hot meals, warm clothing and blankets, vocational training, as well as basic agricultural and leadership skills. Additionally, three teachers were trained as part of the initiative.
