More than Fun and Games at Modhesh World this summer

Dubai Cares invites families and friends to support Dubai Cares’ ‘We Can Teach Each Other’ campaign at Modhesh World
More than Fun and Games at Modhesh World this summer

Following a successful community outreach activity at The Dubai Mall during the holy month of Ramadan, Dubai Cares has unveiled another community touch point at Modhesh World (Hall 2). Until August 28, 2015, the UAE community can contribute to the organisation's "We Can Teach Each Other" campaign whilst enjoying fun-filled summer activities at Modhesh World.

Visitors to the Dubai Cares stand at Modhesh World can help design the ABC book, which the organization is creating in English, French and Arabic for children in developing countries as part of its annual campaign. Participants are invited to color the letters of the alphabet as well as drop their donation in the interactive donation boxes in support of providing children in developing countries with access to education. The activity is hosted by Modhesh World and sponsored by Emirates Islamic.

Thanking the UAE community for their support and generosity, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares said: "The UAE community has always been a tremendous supporter of Dubai Cares, with education being on top of mind for private individuals and organisations alike. This year, the UAE community selflessly donated their time and money towards promoting our programs and also helped us create the ABC book. There was a strong interest in keeping the momentum going and by extending the campaign over DSS, we hope to engage with more members of the public to reach more children in the developing world."

From her side, Suhaila Gobash, Events Director at Dubai Festivals & Retail Establishment, the organizers of Modhesh World, said, "Since its inception in the year 2000, Modhesh World has worked as an ideal platform for community initiatives to reach out to a wide spectrum of its target audiences. With more than 500,000 visitors to Modhesh World comprising of multi-cultural families from across the region, CSR campaigns such as "We Can Teach Each Other" will find it easier to achieve its objectives. We are extremely happy to be associated with Dubai Cares on such a great campaign and look forward to enhance this cooperation in the future.

Commenting on the collaboration with Dubai Cares, Jamal bin Ghalaita, CEO, Emirates Islamic, said: "Dubai Cares has taken the lead in providing quality primary education to underprivileged children in developing countries – a cause that resonates closely with Emirates Islamic's commitment to giving back to the community. A solid education will prepare and empower these children and improve their overall welfare in the long term. We are proud to partner with Dubai Cares on this worthy initiative, and we aim to focus more of our efforts on this cause in the future."

Dubai Cares 'We Can Teach Each Other' campaign looks at children from the developing world who irrespective of the vulnerable conditions they are growing up in, have developed skills in crafting, engineering and designing that help them create wearable items and toys, made by repurposing disposable bags, old shoes, plastic and clothes, as well as natural material such as tree leaves and twigs. The campaign highlights the impact education could have in harnessing the potential talent of these children towards building a prosperous and productive future for all, and promotes a first-of-a-kind skill exchange between children in impoverished communities and school-going children from around the world. Anchored by tutorial-style 'how to' videos presenting the unique capabilities these children have gained within their environments over the years, each campaign video concludes with a message urging the community to empower the children by teaching them to read – providing them with education - through donating to Dubai Cares programs.

The campaign also features the organization's biggest social media campaign to date - #IsFor. It drives the creation of the first Instagram Alphabet book with the support of the UAE community. Residents of the UAE and people around the world are encouraged to post photographs of objects whose words start with each letter of the alphabet, such as an image of an apple and a description of "A #IsFor Apple" or an image of a bike "B #IsFor Bike" or a picture of a train "T #IsFor Train", while also tagging #DubaiCares. As the campaign comes to an end, Dubai Cares will collate many of the images along with the profile pictures and usernames of the individuals who shared them in an Instagram Alphabet book, which will be distributed in English, Arabic and French in some of the organization's beneficiary countries.

The fun gets bigger and better this summer at Modhesh World, which is conveniently located at the Dubai World Trade center. There's ample parking space across the road or you can opt to take the metro. The opening hours at Modhesh World are 9:00 AM – 12:00 AM on weekdays and 9:00 AM – 1:00 AM on weekends.
