A team from Emirates Diving Association, a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) accredited non-profit voluntary organization and registered with the UAE General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare recently completed a diving expedition to Galapagos Islands in South America, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and comprise of a number of volcanic islands distributed along the equator. The team dedicated the success of this exciting adventure to Dubai Cares, the UAE-based philanthropic establishment launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to provide children in developing countries with access to primary education.
Describing the fascinating experience, Major General Khalfan Khalfan A. Al Muhairy, Financial Director at Emirates Diving Association and part of the diving team said, “When we set-off on this adventure, we were aware that the tough journey would bring with it a number of challenges but we were determined to achieve our goal. The biggest inspiration behind our success was our aim to raise awareness about the importance of providing education to children and hence it was only appropriate that we dedicated our success to Dubai Cares.
“Education plays a crucial role in ensuring a bright future for all children and hence we hope to encourage others to support and help promote the importance of education”, added Al Muhairy.
