Dubai Cares, the UAE-based philanthropic establishment launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Prime Minister, Vice-President and Ruler of Dubai, has started a “School Awareness Campaign” in collaboration with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai, to raise awareness about the various challenges that prevent children in developing countries from accessing primary education. The campaign will encompass a number of school visits by members of Dubai Cares to introduce the students to the various programs designed by the organization to overcome these challenges, including the ‘School Feeding Campaign’ which was launched during Ramadan this year.

Tariq Al Gurg, CEO of Dubai Cares said, “This ‘School Awareness Campaign’ is in line with the conscious efforts of Dubai Cares in reaching out to and interacting with different segments of the UAE community. The school visits will include a simple presentation followed by an interactive session with the students in order to familiarize them with the importance of the programs and campaigns implemented by Dubai Cares and the positive impact it can have on the lives of the children and their families."

"It is extremely important to create awareness about the challenges that prevent children in developing countries from completing their path to education, at an early age as it ensures that students who have the privilege of gaining an education in the best conditions, understand the difficulties faced by children of their age in developing countries, and encourages them to become positive contributors in one way or another in bringing about a positive change in the world", added Al Gurg.

Since it was launched in 2007, Dubai Cares has developed and implemented a series of initiatives and programs designed to overcome the challenges that prevent children in developing countries from accessing basic education, including those related to school infrastructure, quality of education,  availability of water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, in addition to  school health and nutrition. Till date Dubai Cares’ programs are reaching out to over 5 million beneficiaries in 24 developing countries across the world. Dubai Cares’ ‘School Feeding Campaign’ launched during Ramadan has received tremendous response from the residents of the UAE and the business community including shopping malls and retailers.
