Dubai Cares, a UAE-based philanthropic organization, today concluded the 2011 edition of “Volunteer Emirates” at Manar Al Iman Private School in Ajman. A volunteering initiative by Dubai Cares that offers UAE residents opportunities to support a worthy cause, “Volunteer Emirates” brought together over 120 volunteers for two separate events at the non-profit school to help enrich the school environment for the students.
Today’s event follows a similar one organized by Dubai Cares on October 22, 2011 at Manar Al Iman Private School where volunteers assisted in playground renovation, landscaping, door and window installation, painting and creating murals on playground walls, creating for the students a learning environment they can enjoy. Another group of volunteers participated in today’s event, helping to complete all renovation and enhancement work at the school.
Commenting on this initiative, Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares, said: “Volunteering is a big part of our lives. UAE residents are generous with their time and effort when it comes to helping others and the enthusiastic response we received to our latest initiative is a testament to this.”
The volunteers were selected through an online competition launched on Dubai Cares’ various social media platforms, part of the philanthropic organization’s efforts to offer individuals interested in participating in its initiatives platforms to connect with it directly.
Since the launch of “Volunteer Emirates” in 2008, 489 volunteers have taken part in the program, assisting in the rehabilitation of 66 classrooms, construction of three playgrounds, creation of eight murals, painting school furniture for six classrooms and landscaping three playgrounds.
