What if your son fills up his bottle from contaminated sources on his way to school. This water has been making him sick and he's constantly missing school days. What if your daughter’s 'school' consists of a half-standing room that exposes her to scorching heat and poisonous snakes and scorpions? You can change their reality.
Through a series of visual stories from beneficiary countries, the Dubai Cares “What If?” Ramadan campaign draws attention to the realities faced by children in the developing world and the impact that lack of education holds for their future.
The campaign encourages the UAE community to take a step back and imagine the lives of children in developing countries, who have to forgo school to help their families earn a living. It also asks UAE residents to step into the shoes of those children who have no access to education, clean water or sanitation facilities for example, and recognize the hurdles primary-age children in developing countries have to face on a daily basis.
How can you support?
The UAE community, both individuals and corporates are invited to get involved in Dubai Cares “What If?” Ramadan campaign by:
“Build a Classroom: Change their Reality” stand at The Dubai Mall
Join us at the Star Atrium of The Dubai Mall to participate in Dubai Cares interactive stand from June 30th to July 19th, 2014. The “Build a Classroom: Change their Reality” mall activity will give the UAE community the opportunity to build a simulated classroom through their donations, a symbolic way allowing people to experience first-hand what their contributions can achieve for children in the developing world.
Part of Dubai Cares ‘What If?’ Ramadan campaign this year, the classroom will serve as a symbol of the change the organization is instigating in 35 countries around the globe through the support of the UAE community. The symbolic ‘brick by brick’ construction process of the classroom will take place every time a AED 50 donation is made at the stand.
In addition, the contributors will have the opportunity to leave personalized messages on the bricks as part of the classroom building exercise. Visitors to the stand who make donations will also be able to get their pictures taken while participating in the activity. Pictures will be pinned on a photo wall at the stand and hard copies will be handed to participants as souvenirs. In addition, the activity features a kids’ area where children can paint and pin their artwork onto an art wall.
Dubai Cares has created a custom hashtag - #whatif - for its Ramadan campaign and encourages the UAE community to spread the word through social media platforms in order to increase awareness and donations.
