Dubai Cares asks “What if?”

In the holy month of Ramadan, Dubai Cares launched its 2014 Ramadan campaign titled “What if?” The campaign aimed to encourage UAE residents to support primary education in developing countries by putting them in the shoes of those children and asking a simple question of “What If?” In parallel, Dubai Cares also announced reaching over 10 million children in 35 developing countries around the world.

As part of the campaign, Dubai Cares organized the “Build a Classroom: Change their Reality” activity at the Dubai Mall’s Star Atrium, from June 30 to July 19. This activity was organized for the UAE community and participants to experience first-hand how their contributions help children in developing countries. The “brick by brick” construction process of the classroom took place every time a AED 50 donation was made at the stand. In addition, participants had an opportunity to leave personalized messages on the bricks and get their pictures taken while participating in the activity.

Individuals as well as corporations were encouraged to get involved in the campaign through sending SMS messages, participation in the activity at The Dubai Mall, making online donations at www.dubaicares.ae, direct financial donation through bank deposit to Dubai Cares account or with a cheque addressed to Dubai Cares, and various other ways of donating. Chalhoub Group, Champion Cleaners, etisalat, Landmark Group and Meraas, among others, supported the campaign.

Dubai Cares concluded the “What If?” Ramadan campaign by announcing 2 new programs in Kenya and Uganda which focus on improving teaching and learning capabilities using Information Communication Technology (ICT).
